Digitisation has of course also created many new challenges for law enforcement agencies. Firstly, because forms and types of crime have changed as a result of digitisation. On the one hand, criminals today of course use technical tools, tools of information technology, to commit certain crimes. On the other hand, new crimes have arisen which would not be possible without digitalisation, without the use of information technology. Today this affects almost all areas of crime. Starting with the trade in illegal goods such as narcotics, which are now sold on the Internet and no longer exclusively on the street as in the past. All the way to digital violence, which is also a massive challenge, because today, of course, people are much more confronted with issues such as cyberbullying, with issues such as sexting or cyber grooming than they were in the past.
