Digitisation has massively changed all areas of our lives in recent years. Not only in the private sphere but also in the area of work and other areas of life. Digitalisation means a worldwide networking of people among each other. Digitization means a fast exchange of information, of data. But digitalisation also means the possibility of accessing a great amount of information, of accessing a great amount of data worldwide. The changes we are facing in the future are the use of artificial intelligence, which will also change our lives in many areas. Digitization of course means new challenges also due to crime. What is currently a particularly important topic and a current concern for us in the fight against crime is what is known as hate speech, i.e. hate crime on the Internet. To this end, our Central Office for Combating Cybercrime will be reinforced in terms of personnel in order to be able to combat these crimes even more effectively and in a more organised and structured manner. The field of Hate Speech is ultimately also a very good example of how crime is changing in the age of digitalisation, how certain crimes, which in the past were actually not seen in public space in this way, are now suddenly visible to everyone and are on the agenda and in the spotlight of public attention.
