Vision: Smart Prevention

From my point of view, prevention in the world changed by digitalisation can only work on a global level. Prevention is not primarily dependent on a particular technology, but rather on effective cooperation between the bodies responsible for security and crime prevention, and this at a global level. And that won’t work as long as everyone is cooking their own little soup and we, as for example in the Federal Republic of Germany, have a lot to catch up on in terms of cooperation with security authorities and law enforcement agencies at national level and even more at international level. In my view, technology itself and its use must always aim to respect fundamental rights, in particular the right to informational self-determination, namely the fundamental right to data protection, and the right to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of information technology systems, namely the fundamental right to computers, as much as possible and to restrict them as little as possible.
